Introduction to sacred geometry

A 25 minutes reportage with Karen Carty at her parisian galery : Galerie Talmart . Author explains us the way she considers the sacred geometry and her role, as artist, to express and transfigure these divine proportions. To Karen Carty, sacred geometry is the body of knowledge of the universal achetypes : each proportion, each ratio is part of the whole template of the creation.

I'm an American artist, and I began studying sacred geometry 20 years ago. Before that, I was doing many paintings for a hotel in Los Angeles, and I was using archetypal geometries for these paintings. And I began to wonder, what is the meaning behind geometries that are archetypal, that are the basis of symbols throughout time for all different cultures? Because I kept seeing that there were certain geometries that were basic to symbols from around the world throughout time.

And I began to study sacred geometry then, and to understand that this was the language of origin of much of the symbology, both religious and cultural, especially in Western civilizations, but also around the world and throughout time. And sacred geometry is an ancient art and an ancient science. It explains through geometric metaphor the process of creation, the created world, the relationship of the human to the creator, and to all of created life.

So it's a very fascinating and profound subject, and I'm passionate about it, so that's me. I began studying before there was a book in English, and I gathered many books from transcendental magic all the way to quantum physics, the whole spectrum. And I began to read and read, and then I began to understand that sacred geometry was the understanding of how three-dimensional reality is created. And it's a very profound understanding.

Plus, again, it is the language of origin of many of the symbols in our cultural and religious history. So after I studied for a number of years, people began to call me and said, we understand that you know sacred geometry. Will you write an article? Will you lecture?

And I did that, and then I started working with the major geniuses in the field of sacred geometry, and some of the master teachers, and the people who as sacred geometrists are working with technologies, and frequency, and music, and architecture, and all kinds of fields and disciplines, because sacred geometry is like the vortex between art and science, philosophy, music, architecture, art. All of these things, you can go back and find sacred geometry again is the beginning point of much of this from centuries upon centuries.

Sacred geometry teaches through the language of the left brain, which is mathematics and geometry, very precise. It teaches through the language of the left brain with what the right brain has never forgotten, which is that there is no separation, that all of life is created as a single system. And we are intuitive. We are telepathic.

We understand things on a much deeper level. We sense energy all the time throughout our day, even if we're taught not to talk about it. We sense truth. If there has been an understanding that empowers humanity, that has been put aside, or kept as a secret, or kept as the mysteries, we feel that inside of ourselves.

That's why I believe the book, The Da Vinci Code, touched humanity on an archetypal level, and that's why that book was so famous. And I'm not talking about the film, I'm talking about the book. It was famous around the globe like wildfire, and I know that it's because it touched an archetypal nerve in humanity. Sacred geometry teaches those things, and next year I'm going to start lecturing internationally so that I can begin to explain the basics to people and what this amazing subject is about.

And it's about how consciousness moves from the highest dimensions of pure light and pure thought down through successive dimensions to create everything in third-dimensional reality, including the human body. A lot of the drawings on the wall, I make them small first as final studies, and then I do the paintings. Some of them I do just on the canvas, and some of my pieces are just essence pieces. Most of my work is based strictly on sacred geometry, but I also sometimes just do the essence of things.

There's a huge, beautiful painting of the Tree of Life in southern France at my friend's house. It's beautiful. You can find it on my website. It's almost two meters high, and it's quite beautiful.

And yes, the Kabbalah is very much all sacred geometry. You find the understanding of sacred geometry usually in the Jewish mysticism, in Christian mysticism, in Tibetan mysticism, in Chinese mysticism, in the mystery schools, in the esoteric brotherhoods. It was the understanding of creation because it's such a powerful, profound subject that was kept aside from the mainstream for many, many centuries.

It was protected. It was guarded. And now is really the time to begin to awaken humanity to a different understanding. That's all it is.

It's a body of knowledge. It's not a religion. It's not a dogma. It's not an opinion.

It does not polarize people to make them against each other. So one is better, and one is not good or worse, and you're not me, or you're the other, or you're my enemy. It disappears those things. So that's why I think it's very important for people to understand, especially now on the planet.

I use the colors that I love. These, again, are representations of geometries of pure light and in the realm of pure thought. So my work as an artist, is to take this understanding, and for me, to make a beautiful painting. So I choose the colors that I love, which are, I use a lot of metallics, a lot of gold leaf, copper leaf, silver leaf, to put a living dimension to the pieces because these geometries are living energy on the highest dimensions.

And the gold leaf and the metallics add another dimension. So the colors are just the colors that I love. If you understand that this is three-dimensional reality, three-dimensional, then you begin to understand maybe there are other dimensions, higher dimensions. In our
