 The fire of the forest of Khandava is one of the episodes of the Mahabharata, sacred text of India. To Jean Herbert (Hindu mythology, its message", Albin Michel, 1982), this fire marks the end of a cycle and the passage in the current era:Kali Yuga. The action occurs in a forest, which symbolizes "the attractive mess of division" where Indra reigns, the sovereign of animated beings and mental activities. This mental overactivity, a characteristic of the Kali Yuga, that leads to duality and rivalry shows an absence of central direction.
