In Western countries, "nobody knows what contains the notion of energy... " regrets Bertrand Vergely. And he advises us: "we have to stifle our mind which reduces the notion of energy to some fluid or an electric current... Energy is invisible, unmeasurable since it is JUST possibility". But this "JUST" actually forms a "WHOLE" ! Indeed energy constitutes a transformation process which makes that I start from what is possible to reach real, and from real I come back to what is possible: thus energy forms Life.
Someone who is full of energy means that he is full of possibilities. So he is strong and can heroically face the chaos of his time.
More than two thousand years ago, materialists (Democritus, Epicurus who thought reality was limited to the study of the atom, Fire, Water etc) were opposed to idealists (Parmenides, Plato, Pythagoras who thought that the fundament of the being was the Spirit). Two thousand years of Christianity later and particularly following the greats changes which occurred during the 17th century (social, political, cultural and scientific with the refracting telescope, the microscope for example - those changes became the base of our modern world and its link to reality) what is the meaning of these timeless questions : What is life, reality, energy and behind these questions, a metaphysical question : what about the origin, destination and the deep identity of Man ?
Do modern thinkers such as Michel Onfray (author of "La sculpture de soi" ! among others...) which shows the modern state of mind which tend to assert that "God is beyond understanding" or "the only valid thing is us, so let's be based on ourselves"...
Referring to the works of Aristotle or Bergson, Bertrand Vergely urges us to take the opposite way : "God is knowable, since when we say that God is knowable, we fall back on the self. And when we fall back on the self, we finish predictably to create a world totally unbalanced"... (quotation by Saint-Grégoire de Palamas )
