 Who really were the Cathars? What were the real reasons that led the Christian church to exterminate this heretical sect? We know it is always the victors who write history. In this 46-minute interview, Jean-Phillipede Tonnac reappraises this pacifist community of “bons hommes" (Good Men) and "bonnes femmes (Good Women) and the insane theories that developed about the Cathars that led to their ‘myth’. Co-author, Anne Brenon also contributes to this talk on their joint work, “Cathars: the Counter-Inquiry” published by Albin Michel.
