Quotation : < “A quoi te sert ta connaissance si elle ne te porte pas à combattre? A rien. C´est précisément comme si quelqu´un connaissait un grand trésor, et qu´il n´allât pas le chercher ; et que sachant cependant bien où le prendre, il mourût de faim dans sa connaissance” Jakob Boehme >

Freemasonry: in the twilight of its mission ?

Freemasonry > Today
By : Jean Solis -  Friday, 30 April 2010 00:00
perez_TR2_franc_maconnerieFar from usual clichés about Freemasonry, wheeler-dealer or plotting, which since the time of Vichy seem completely outdated, we asked two Freemasons committed in a updating Freemasonry:    Jacques Fontaine  and Jean Solis, to answer this question: is Freemasonry at the twilight of its mission?  The wish of this debate is to go to the center of many interrogations:
- From where is coming the illness which corrupts Freemasonry?
- Is it the victim, like our civilization of a loss of reference point?
- What place does hold the ritual, the myth, the symbol in freemasonry?
- Did Freemasonry have a mission, if it had one, did it fulfill it?

- Of what treasure is it entrusted?
- In history, many spiritual communities, which became intoxicated by their wealth, haven't anticipated schisms which were about to occur or their extinction: has Freemasonry arrived at that point?

This state of French Freemasonry, shown by the Anglo-Saxon example, is sincere and simple. It opens trails of renewal, making people aware of their responsibilities regarding lodges at the detriment of obediences, by a clear dissociation between the horizontal axis (material contingencies) and its vertical axis (spiritual and initiatory)... symbolism of the cross... and collision between time power and spiritual authority.
