 In the middle of the 18th century a meteor crosses the sky of French illuminism: Martines de Pasqually. He is an enigmatic character, his identity is uncertain, and many legends are spread about him. What is sure is that the Martinezist way of thinking was transmitted by Martines de Pasqually in the Order of the Eleus Cohens, a mystic initiatory order. Its influence lasted till our days thanks to the work of two of his followers, Louis Claude de Saint-Martin and Jean-Baptiste Willermoz.
Serge Caillet shows first the independence of Martines regarding French freemasonry of his time, the freemasonry Martines would have wanted to reform; and this tentative of rectification, didn't applied to freemasonry, but to successive degrees within the Order of the Eleus Cohens.
Is this system complete and coherent? Can we consider it as a masonic rite? What are its degrees? What is the true function of this external clothing?
Indeed, to unveil the Cohens masonic veil, make us get close to the body of the Cohens order: what are the grades and the ceremonies which compose it? What is the meaning of its rituals and the importance of arithmosophy?
The body with its sacramental theurgical forms is an "animated" body. The second veil rises and Serge Caillet enter the third part of his presentation: "the soul of the Cohens order is a vehicle", he says. How do we have to understand the word vehicle? What are the repositories which are at the origin of this order?
 
The fourth and las part is about the spirit or the Thing. Last part: Reintegration beings . Martines de Pasqually's Great Work isn't just about the clothes necessary to its manifestation, nor its time form of a school based on praying and virtue. The Eleus Cohens order is first a spiritual reality, where "Gnosis comes to crown faith" asserts Serge Caillet.
What is the ultimate goal of the Eleus Cohens' quest? What was, in this quest, the role of Martines de Pasqually and what did he want to offer the world?
Are the different veils that the path of the Eleus Cohens invites to rise comparable to what Karl von Eckartshausen called "the inner Church" in his book The Cloud upon the Sanctuary?
