The Origins of Martinism (audio) Martinism, a current of esoteric Judeo-Christianity, was born as a result of the encounter between theosophy and the ideas of Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin. It also has roots in the work of Martinès de Pasqually which addresses “the fall and possible redemption of Man”, explored in his “Treatise concerning the Reintegration of Beings and their Primitive Divine Assets, Virtues and Spiritual Powers ” written in 1770.
Surviving unrecognised for many years, de Pasqually’s work was only properly recognised as a consequence of Papus, who went on to found the spiritual and non-dogmatic Martinist Order in 1887.
