Significance of the Kabbalah and what vision for the current world?

Esotericism > Kabbalah
By : Michael Sebban -  Friday, 17 September 2010 00:00
prof_TR25_kabbaleFor what reasons does Kabbalah (which let's say it again is a synonym of the word "plot" in English - it would about time that our encyclopedists change this, Ed) does it
In what consists this initiatory Jewish metaphysic and what is its significance now? To answer this question, we have gathered, with Fred Abram Profeta, two kabbalists: Marc Halévy and Michael Sebban.
"Man can only know what he ca name" says Marc Halevy, "it's the look which creates the object and not the opposite, so what exists is names, it's because we name it that it exists and what we can't name doesn't exist. The letters describe the world and God can be said in letters (...)
what is fundamental with the Kabbalah, is that it limits knowledge of emanation and different worlds which compose it by man seen as a man". It's a complete system that combines observation and metaphysic.

To Michael Sebban, every man of faith questions at every moment of his existence: how to serve God ? This wish, this thirst can be represented in a metaphorical way by a pit. All the men drink in the same pit, but some only let their seal in surface (outside level, religious)… and others will go deeper (inner level, mystic).

To our two authors, the Kabbalah is « everything but a way of thinking : it is a way to go from ignorance to knowledge ». This approach to knowledge passes mainly by meditation, the opening of the heart where true intelligence is, and secondly by reading which favor the mental, knowledge.
“To read, is to know… meditate, it is to approach knowledge!” says Marc Halévy
Initiatory way by excellence, the Kabbalah invites man to walk the way of emanation on the opposite way of Creation: he stars from the tenth Sephirah, the Realm (Malkut) to reach the first Sephirah, the crown (Kether).

Between « the Kingdom » and « the Crown », who embodies the King ? Is it the initiate man, on the way? Or the way itself? The importance is not to reach ones goal, it is to go ones way : to get a precise vision and not to scatter “by absorbing generalities”. To be soaked by the Kabbalah enables to refine ones judgement, it is a tool that kabbalist masters recommend to their disciples this way “use that and make it your way yourself”.

To Marc Halévy “The sense and the value of man are not within man but above him. Man is not his own end on the contrary he takes his meaning because he goes beyond it”.

Is it an exhortation to consider current world? Should we modify the designation of “post modern” and the “post promethean” one?

Think about it in the 65-minutes debate, filmed at the Forum 104.
