The two words "esotericism" and "radical right-wing" have many common things: both are counter-cultures and its followers reject, in a comparable way (and not analog), society. Both gather under a same vocable very heterogeneous sensibilities. Both aim at certain form of elitism, verticality: in aristocracy, monarchy or in mystic. For about thirty years, these two meanings, which have always been out of the major public opinion, have been excluded the same way, more and more fed and almost ordinary.
Are all these common characteristics the two udders of the same breast? And has it fed simultaneously history of ideas, deeds, in France, in Germany or in Italy?
To answer these questions, we gathered around Jean Solis : Jean-Yves Camus, Stéphane François and Christian Bouchet. The first part (50 minutes) of this debate talks about French political spheres: what are the facts which led current French political thought to a level of demagogy, almost patronizing, and comparable to a western movie: with "the good ones" and the "bad ones".
Is it the result of the society of show and our irrepressible thirst of distraction? Of the growing role of media? Or evil would be deeper: in the traumatic repressed of World War II, when w would have thrown away "in the same bin" according to Jean-Yves Camus deeds and ideas with no relation between them. From which comes the current syncretic and dark drifting.
This first part gives a reminder of word meaning we often use, without knowing their distinctions: "extreme", "radicalness", "left", "right", "esotericism", "conservative", "reactionary", "populism", "Nazism", "fascism", ... these notions have to be used with a certain rigor - and caution.
The second part (50 minutes) shall talk about the doctrinal component of different radical right-wings and the links they could have with esotericism and the esotericism of their time: Freemasonry, Golden Dawn, noepythagorean sects etc...
What intellectual filiation can we establish between Joseph de Maistre, René Guénon and Julius Evola ? And what was the influence of their thought on history? Christian millenarianism, counter-revolutionary thought, legitimists movements, traditional catholics?
All metaphysics thinking, metahistorical interpretation or political way of thinking are questioning themselves about nature and the march of the world: does providence make history? What virtue to give to "market"? Does it regulate by himself? What part does the State must have? Is the course of events in an evolving cycle (Gold Age ?) or in decadence (Dark Age)?
So many timeless and fascinating questions, which associate esotericism, philosophy and politics, evoked here with a certain gravity... which must not make us forget that loving your neighbor and the quest of the beautiful, the right thing, and truth are the way for us all!
