The basic qualities and the tempers

Qualified as "out-of-date physic" by current scientists, the study of the genesis of these four elements which are "Earth, Air, Water, Fire" requires the comprehension of three fundamental questions about the nature of Man, his nature as a reflexion of the cosmos. The word cosmos can be interpreted as synonym of harmony, if Man wishes to live in harmony, he is inevitably to consider the three following questions:

1°) The place of light in its constitution (and thus in his birth theme): am I lunar or solar ? Diurnal or nocturnal ? Radiant (hot) or humid ?

2°) Depending on this first answer follows a repartition between the four Basic Qualities of everything thing. That repartition is about Dry, Humid, Hot and Cold: how do these four qualities split in my metabolism ?

3°) Third, the following question: what is my main humor ? Humor is understood as a fluid which circulates in my body. Traditional medicine and its following naturopathy distinguishes four types of fluids: the lymph, blood, the yellow bile or the black bile. These allow to show four different tempers: the lymphatic (Venusian), the sanguine (Jupeterian), choleric (Martian) or the melancholic (Saturnian).
Approaching real can be multiform says Denis Labouré and these different visions of the world can be developed under many point of views: artistic, scientific, philosophical or symbolical. It is that dimension Denis Labouré suggests to embrace.

The strength of traditional sciences, or the symbolic approach, allows us to gather the Universal and the Individual. One doesn't crush the other, on the contrary, they are constantly exchanging and feeding each other. However modern medicine neglects the individual to the collective: men didn't even become similar but analog, interchangeable.  That lack (unacceptable for a civilization which pretends to be developed! ed.) goes with an arrogance which would place it in an hegemony status: "one of the worst pain in therapeutics, is the lack of individualization which applies the same regime to all the sick persons, (...) the same medicine formulas without taking into account the digestive capacities, the adaptation ability and above all tempers..." (extract from the book "Diagnostic et conduite des tempéraments", 1926, by Dr Paul Carton, one of the founders of naturopathy…)
Do you want to discover the genesis of the four elements ?
Do you think you will find yourself, or identify your relatives in this categorization coming from traditional sciences and hermeticism?
Answer by Denis Labouré in this 42-minutes lecture which is prelude to another exposition about elements (release on April 2nd).
